47. International Solidarity with Palestinians: Baha Hilo & Rafał Piotrowski [in English]
Released on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, this episode of Reorient podcast brings a conversation about global activism and the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights.
Host Ewa Górska is joined by Baha Hilo, a Palestinian educator and activist, and Rafał Szajchutdinow-Piotrowski, a Polish philosophy student and member of Academia for Palestine, to explore the role of education, activism, and collective resistance in the fight against oppression.
How has international solidarity with Palestinians evolved, particularly in Poland? What role do universities play in supporting or suppressing this movement? Why is education critical in countering misconceptions about Palestine and Israel? How can individuals engage in meaningful solidarity without perpetuating "voluntourism"? What parallels exist between the Palestinian struggle and other global social justice movements?Baha is an educator and activist from Bethlehem. He runs the 'To Be There' project, which organizes solidarity and awareness-raising programs in the West Bank, as well as 'The Citadel' cultural center in Beit Sahour.
Rafał is a philosophy student, activist, and one of the leaders of the 'Academia for Palestine' ('Akademia dla Palestyny') movement in Poland. He was also involved in the pro-Palestine encampment at Jagiellonian University."
