FREE WILL AND DESTINY – UNDAILY EP. 196

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) Is our life just a series of coincidences, or perhaps a part of a mysterious grand Divine plan? Many of us ponder this question, especially when faced with unexpected events. A thought struck me a few days ago: "There are no coincidences, only God's Plan, and we either say YES or NO to it." This notion might be comforting, but is everything truly so simple and preordained? Consider the words from the third chapter of Ecclesiastes: "To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." This sounds like an invitation to accept everything that happens as part of a larger divine design. But does this mean our future is already written, and we, willingly or not, merely play our roles? Is there no room for spontaneity, for our own decisions that can affect our lives in the present and future? Here arises a provocative reflection: Do we really always have to say "YES" to God's Plan? What happens if we say "No"? Would that be an act of rebellion, or perhaps an expression of the free will that God Himself has bestowed upon us? In reality, by saying "No," are we not introducing an element into our lives that is as significant as any other decision? Contrary to the currents of pop culture and New Age, which entice us with the promise of creating our own unique reality, the Christian faith emphasizes trust in God's plan. But... does such trust require more from us than passively accepting everything that happens? Perhaps true trust involves asking questions, questioning, and seeking answers? Maybe God's Plan assumes that we sometimes go our own way to find purpose and meaning in it? Let us consider whether we are truly just pawns in a Divine theater, or if we have our own voices in the choir that creates the epic song of our reality. When faced with the choice of saying "YES" or "NO," it may not only be a matter of faith. It could also be a way of handling the great gift of God – our free will – and a style in which we take responsibility for our lives. And what if, through our decisions and their consequences, we discover the true depth of God's Plan? Maybe it's worth occasionally putting a question mark after "YES" and pondering what truly lies behind our individual choices? One thing is certain in all of this: everything passes, so let's be at peace with impermanence. Radio Safira FM, may God bless us all!
